    All taxpayers who pay income tax are subject to direct collection by the central  government. It is assessed against a specific portion of their income. Professional tax, on the other hand, is an indirect tax that the state government collects. For those who are actively engaged in business, occupation, or employment, a flat rate is applied.

    The annual maximum payment for the professional tax is Rs. 2,500. The professional tax is often calculated as a slab amount based on the professional's gross income. Each month, it is subtracted from the employee's pay.

    The payment deadline is June 30th if the entity enrolled before May 31st. The payment deadline for enrollments made after May 31 is 30 days prior to the enrollment date.

    According to the Professional Tax Rules, some people are excluded from paying Professional Tax. The following people are not required to pay professional tax:
    parents of children who have mental or permanent disabilities
    Members of the armed forces as defined by the Army Act of 1950, the Air Force Act of 1950, and the Navy Act of 1957, as well as auxiliary force members or reserve personnel stationed in the State.

    a person with a physical impairment that is permanent, such as blindness.
    Under the Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana, or Director of Small Savings, women are the only agents employed.
